Best bars in Delhi

1. Dandy – The Fio Bar

This cordoned-off converted section of Fio at Nehru place has our heart for its range of infused gins (that go beautifully with Kombucha) and its cosy-but-cool south delhi live. Their house cocktails are the real deal, and we could comfortably kick back our weight in Mezcal Swizzles (tequila, agave, ginger, bitters) and Whiscorns (basil, bitters, popcorn-infused whisky) on any given day.

Address: Epicuria Food Mall, Nehru Place Metro Station, Nehru Place, New Delhi

Phone Number: 011 71565352

Cost For Two: ₹2,000 for two people (approx.)

2. Polo Lounge

More sleek and serious than easy and mellow, you should choose the sharp-aesthetic of this bar when you’re in the market for a quiet evening with a quality drink. You’ll find the best brands in the business on offer here, no matter your spirit of choice–though it’s perhaps more single-spirit focussed than cocktail driven.

Address: Hyatt Regency, Bhikaji Cama Place, New Delhi

Phone Number: 011 66771314

Cost For Two: ₹2,500 for two people (approx.) with alcohol

3. Keya

While the crowd tends to run a touch teenybopper at Keya (and the line to get in is always a veritable test of patience), Keya still deserves its spot for cult value. Expect a mostly zennial crowd, poppy music, and basic drinks that’ll coast you through a hardcore night. Stick to simple sushi or a flatbread here and avoid experimenting too much–the food is more an accessory to its vibe than a standalone draw.

Address: 122-124, Ground Floor, DLF Promenade Mall, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi

Phone Number: +91 9650255777

Cost For Two: ₹2,500 for two people (approx.) with alcohol

4. Bohca

Post its late 2019 relaunch, the city’s Friday night hub has been back in action like it never left the party. A great place to bring in the weekend with the right music and a solid, So-Del crowd, Bohca (now on the Qutub-Mehrauli side of life, not Asian Games Village), Bohca holds up in the food department as well (we’re fans in particular of the Patrani Salmon and Black Rice Krapaw).

Address: Qutub Residency Hotel, 81, Sri Aurobindo Marg, Adchini

Phone Number: +91 9139616161

Cost For Two: ₹2,200 for two people (approx.)

5. PCO

One’s of the Pass Code team’s OGs, PCO is a fun, underground bar with a dim (but never dingy) vibe, killer cocktails and exactly the kind of crowd you’re looking to chill amongst on a night off. The speakeasy-style bar doesn’t just let anyone in (which helps filter out the city’s most rambunctious), so getting to their most fabulous cocktails like The Corpse Bride (cognac, applejack, vermouth) and The Maximalist (white rum, maraschino liqueur, grapefruit) counts even more.

Address: D-4, D Block Market, Vasant Vihar, New Delhi

Phone Number: +91 9711108482

Cost For Two: ₹2,200 for two people (approx.) with alcohol

6. Sidecar

Brought to you by the folks behind Gurgaon’s Cocktails & Dreams speakeasy, Sidecar has stepped out from its popular sibling’s shadow to take its place in the sun (skylight?) as one of the coolest bars in the city. We love its warm, retro interiors, live music nights and badass drinks, especially the Apple Cinnamon Strudel (cinnamon bourbon, apple, maple) and Aunt Emily (gin, cranberry, elderflower).

Address: M 29, 1st Floor, M Block Market, Near HDFC Bank, Greater Kailash 2 (GK 2), New Delhi

Phone Number: +91 9999407923

Cost For Two: ₹1,600 for two people (approx.)

7. The Hong Kong Club – Andaz Delhi

While this may *technically* come under restaurants, we’re all about the vibe at this Andaz Delhi spot. Usually playing host to a cool musician or two, or just a DJ spinning very 2000-and-now music, The Hong Kong Club is a great place to bring in the weekend with a glass of bubbly and some Char Sui barbeque pork.

Address: Andaz Delhi, Asset 1, Aerocity, New Delhi

Phone Number: 011 61495165

Cost For Two: ₹3,500 for two people (approx.) with alcohol

8. Cirrus 9

The big sell at this chic, understated central Delhi bar is its magnificent rooftop that gives you sweeping views of the golf course and Humayun’s Tomb as you sip on their signature Brigadoon #2 (scotch, champagne, peach and almond). A great place to spend a Saturday night if you’re okay with being a touch more formal than usual (full-length trousers and closed shoes are a must).

Address: The Oberoi, Dr. Zakir Hussain Marg, New Delhi

Phone Number: 011 24363030

Cost For Two: ₹3,000 for two people (approx.) with alcohol

9. The Library – The Leela Palace

Definitely not for the party-hunters of the capital, The Library Bar has an old-world vibe about that goes best with its wide selection of Japanese whiskies and Speyside scotches. They also do some great ‘Library Cocktails’, with their Earl Grey Sour (bergamot, earl grey, gin) being a star in specific. Best if you’re after a ‘Charles Dance reading a literary classic with his usquebaugh’ kind of evening.

Address: The Leela Palace, Diplomatic Enclave, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi

Phone Number: 011 39331234

Cost For Two: ₹3,500 for two people (approx.) with alcohol

10. Town Hall

There are some addresses without which this list would be incomplete, and Town Hall, certainly falls in that bracket. Khan Market’s cool, easy Circle Lane space will draw a Delhi crowd no matter how many other players enter the game, primarily for its great playlist, unfussy food (their Spicy Maguro Temaki is to die for) and classic cocktails. This is a bar best done in a group.

Address: 60-61, Near Dayal Opticals, Middle Circle Lane, Khan Market, New Delhi

Phone Number: 011 43597166

Cost For Two: ₹2,500 for two people (approx.)

11. The Kimono Club

The Kimono Club might be younger on the cityscape than most places on this list, but Ashish Dev Kapur’s (Whiskey Samba, Antares) 2019-born deserves a spot for having shot to such popularity in less than six months of existence. Spectacularly designed by the inimitable Freddy Birdy, the chic, Oriental aesthetic practically sets up your Instagram stories for you–as does a killer menu by Chef Vikramjit Roy.

Address: Lower Ground Floor, Chanakya Mall, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi

Phone Number: 011 71565105

Cost For Two: ₹2,500 for two people (approx.)

12. Summer House Cafe

The smart folks that made the first move on the (then) untapped Aurobindo market (that stood at the start of the ever-crowded road to Hauz Khas Village), Summer House is the OG that made this market the Delhi hotspot it became with time. While it may not be the place to go for haute cuisine or bottle service, Summer House always has a rotation of cool artists and comedians performing, and more reasonably priced drinks than most So-Del bars.

Address: 1st Floor, DDA Shopping Complex, Aurobindo Place, Hauz Khas, New Delhi

Phone Number: +91 9810200780

Cost For Two: ₹2,000 for two people (approx.) with alcohol

13. Dear Donna

Image may contain Pub Bar Counter Furniture and Chair

Ever since it popped up on the lounge-bar scene a year ago, Dear Donna has become something of a magnet for the city’s party people–while still managing to draw a late twenty-something crowd–versus the barely-legal crew of certain other popular competitors. It isn’t hard to understand why it’s taken off like it has, given its current playlist, well-curated bar food, and potent cocktails.

Address: Ground Floor, Qutub Hotel, A Block, Shaheed Jeet Singh Marg, Block C, Qutab Institutional Area, New Delhi

Phone Number: +91 9139646464

Cost For Two: ₹2,200 for two people (approx.) with alcohol

14. SAZ – American Brasserie

More on the lines of ‘relaxed estaminet’ than ‘buzzing club’, SAZ delivers a quality cocktail with a burger worth writing home about. Brought to the city by the Pass Code team (Jamun, Ping’s, ATM, PDA and, also on this list, PCO), this Sunder Nagar space is a winner for its extensive wine selection, long list of malts and Goan Chorizo and Onion Ring pizza.

Address: 21, 1st Floor, Sunder Nagar Market, Behind HDFC Bank, Sunder Nagar, New Delhi

Phone Number: +91 9821868288

Cost For Two: ₹2,300 for two people (approx.)

15. Ek Bar

While this Def Col spot may have seen a reboot or two over time, Ek Bar has never stopped turning out a well-mixed cocktail regardless of the theme du jour. In its current avatar, a take on contemporary India, the bar does both drinks and dinner (with some great desserts like their Chaach Panna Cotta in the mix). We’d recommend getting several rounds of their Valley-Tea-Ni (chamomile, apple spice syrup and infused gin) throughout.

Address: D-17, 1st Floor, Defence Colony, New Delhi

Phone Number: +91 8527941199

Cost For Two: ₹2,400 for two people (approx.) with alcohol
